First thing I want to let you know is that I’ve recently changed my name. I forget what it was before, but it’s now Paul Levy. Aside from that, very little has changed with me although my family tells me that I have developed a touch of Alzheimer’s. Could be. At any rate, I look forward to meeting you at some upcoming event that my wife says should be exciting. Some Highlights and Kilometer Stones I have 4 grandkids, 3 turtle doves, 2 children, and we just planted a pear tree in the back yard that is anxiously awaiting a partridge. My son is a computer technical artist and for several years worked on the Wi version of Guitar Hero. His partner is a special ed teacher. My daughter is a counselor at a community mental health agency. I am still married happily to Elizabeth and I think she mostly would say the same about me. She’s a retired library director. I am retired and can look back on a stellar career – namely Al From’s career in Washington, DC as a major political player. My own career was less stellar. It had two enjoyable branches – I was a poverty lawyer and a community organizer for one career (in Indianapolis and Vermont) and I taught social work to adult learners as a second career. Both careers were frequently challenging and gratifying, and both had a number of highlights. In retirement I have been doing some writing (some social policy writing and writing that I hope is a bit humorous), some traveling (our latest trip was a biggie – to Tanzania), quite a bit of grand-parenting and other family stuff, some exercise, some community involvement, and a few other things here and there. Although health, I’m sure, is not on any of your minds, I’ll give a brief health update. My wife is a breast cancer survivor for over 10 years. About five years ago, I had sextuple heart bypass surgery. For those of you who didn’t take Latin with Ms. Kaczmarek, the “sex” in “sextuple” means “six;” and, no, none of the bypasses connected my circulatory and reproductive systems. The good news is that, since the surgery, I’ve been healthy as a horse with six bypasses. Incidentally, four of the bypasses were modeled after the cloverleaf bypass west of South Bend which I hope is still there. Surgery notes revealed that the other two bypasses were modeled on the Bridge to Nowhere (malpractice suit pending).

Hi Ed,

I just heard from my sister about Pat, so I wanted to send my condolences. From what Gail told me and the obituary, it sounds like you had a very special and talented sister. I recall seeing the beginnings of that at Adams.

Hope you are doing well, keeping Elvis going and staying healthy.

Paul
